The Bratten area located in Skagerack which contains the largest depth in Sweden has now been surveyed. The assignment which comprised charting of a 1206 km2 area according to hydrographic survey standard (IHO S-44) was performed during December and January by Clinton Marine Survey in cooperation with AquaBiota Water Research on behalf of Swedish Agency for Marine and Water Management. We are delighted to inform that the deepest point in Swedish waters are located at (211254E 6474375N (SWEREF99 TM) with a preliminary depth of 560m. The final depth will be confirmed after the survey results have been verified by the Swedish Maritime Administration which is expected to take about a month.
Anders Wikmar from Clinton Marine Survey comments; We are pleased that the survey has been completed despite marginal weather conditions. The survey has been conducted using the multibeam echo sounders EM2040 and EM710 from Kongsberg which have provided a very high resolution and accuracy despite the large depth in the area.
