AquaBiota participated with two platform presentations in the international conference ”The interlink between the Marine Strategy Framework Directive and Marine spatial planning” in Riga 21-22 October 2014. The conference had ca 75 participants from a range of institutions including the EU Commission, Baltic Sea governments, authorites, research institutes and non-governmental organizations. The main aim of the conference was to analyze and discuss the current relationships between Maritime Spatial Planning (MSP) and the Marine Strategy Framework Directive (MSFD) as well as to discuss ideas and approaches that can be applied in future MSP in order to help the implementation of the MSFD and achieve the goal of a healthy Baltic Sea.
